Sony Mavica MVC-FD200

Sony Mavica MVC-FD200
The final floppy disk camera model for Sony

If you were into computers or cameras in the late 90's, you'll likely remember the Sony floppy disk cameras.  The Mavica line of cameras showed of the amazing miniaturization Sony was famous for.  Adding the flexibilty of floppy disk storage to the emerging and impressing digital camera technology of the time.

Batteries included, but floppy disk sold separately

It's big camera, that fills your grip; they don't make em' like this anymore.  The buttons and switches are nice quality, typical of Sony at the time.  A pleasing beep can be turned on, to follow each input.  The LCD is still bright and clear.  The LCD baclight even has a lightbar across the top.  I'm not sure why it's like that, but it's nice.

This one even survived an elementry school... Impressive!

Original battery is still kicking in 2022!  I've snapped through a couple of disks now, and the battery meter hasn't moved.  Much better than I expected.

The photos work nicely with vintage computers, equiped with a floppy drive.  However, those same disks will work just fine on modern hardware.  Did I mention this one can use the Sony Memory Stick?  It's almost as depriciated as the floppy disk :)

The memory stick is an added bonus, if you run out of floppies

It's a please camera to use.  The sounds of the disk drive delight, and the general operation of the camera is intuitive and easy.  The lense is a little bit zoomed, so you do have stand back when you snap a photo.  Here are some photos I took, to show of the camera.  These were all taken at 1024x768, so I can fit more photos on the disk (about 10).

That's the sky. It looked the same in person.
